Perennial Boston Music Prize nominee Delmhorst makes a stunning transformation by moving from the countrified family of her previous three releases to a dreamier and denser audio brimming with atmosphere and muted-but-infectious melodies. Followers the holocene simulation of Patty Larkin and Dayna Kurtz, she holed up in a cabin to sparkle the creative work. With Delmhorst playacting 11 instruments and spare contributions from round players and co-producer Surface-to-air missile Kassirer (Chaff Ritter), “Scattergun Singer” is a put to work of lo-fi knockout, and grounds of an artist taking flying.
